Flights from London to Vilnius

Vilnius

Your flight to Vilnius takes you to Lithuania’s historic capital, the world’s northernmost Baroque city, first mentioned in 1009. A city of 100 churches (half Catholic, half Orthodox) that once had 105 synagogues (but only one left), Vilnius has UNESCO World Heritage status.
Step back in time and, from King Mindaugus’ statue (crowned on 6 July 1236) in front of Vilnius National Museum’s New Arsenal, discover the story of Europe’s cultural and intellectual crossroads, important as a Yiddish centre. Vilnius’ living culture is exemplified by the black exterior of the 1974 Lithuanian Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Away from the crowds, bike or hike Vilnius’ parks: Pavilniai, east on the River Vilnia, is a glacial valley with spectacular views from impressive rock cliffs; while Verkiai, further north, has rugged and natural landscapes with Verkiai Palace, home of Vilnius’ bishops, further south. Join the locals on the beaches along the River Neris.
Locals in Vilnius like their mushrooms (boasting 400 edible species) and potatoes. Try cepelinai (stuffed potato dumpling), kugelis (baked potato pudding) and bulviniai blynai (pancakes) with liquid refreshment, such as Kalnapilis or Utenos beer, Krupnikas (honey liqueur), Kvietine vodka or midus (mead).
